CHESHIRE ARMY CADET FORCE

How to Join

Ok then, how do I join ?

Joining as a Cadet

If you are aged 13 and in full time secondary education, just go along to your nearest Cadet Detachment, see the Locations Map on the Navigation Board on the top left of the page.

Life in the ACF really IS great fun, as many thousands of Cadets would agree. It offers numerous opportunities that are not normally accessible to young people. If you are interested in becoming a Cadet or would like more information, we will always be pleased to answer any questions you may have. We can also arrange for you to spend some time with the Cadets at your nearest Detachment (with no obligation to join) to experience first hand, what Cadet life is all about.

Potential Instructors & Adult Instructors

Cheshire Army Cadet Force along with all other County ACFs need adults to train and supervise cadets while on cadet duties. Cheshire Army Cadet Force are always looking for dedicated adults (both female and male) who are willing to give the commitment of 1 or 2 evenings a week, 4 or more weekends a year and an annual camp normally lasting two weeks.

You should be between 18 and 55 years old and be of a reasonable fitness, having your own transport would be an advantage as would previous military experience - although this is not necessary, If you do not have the required skills you will be trained and practised to acquire them.

Training

You will be expected to attend company training sessions followed by an assessment weekend, which will allow you to complete the require Initial Training Course (ITC). During the first years of your ACF career you will also have to attend an Instructors Course at the Cadet Training Centre at Frimley Park in Surrey

The effort and contribution you put into the training of our youth will be rewarded with a great sense of achievement and whilst the ethos of the ACF is built around volunteers , you will also be paid a daily rate of pay depending on the rank held, see the table below for current rates of pay.

 Civilian Assistant

Are you a mum or dad of a cadet or just a person who whilst unable to commit the time needed to be an Adult Instructor would like to help in the Cadet Force as an unpaid Civilian Assistant?

What would you be required to do? Well, civilian assistants help in the non military aspects of the ACF, such as running the Tuck Shop or carrying out Male/Female cover when relevant AIs are not on parade or helping with the NAAFI on weekend or Annual Camps.

If you would like to learn about this very worthwhile position call in at your nearest detachment or phone the HQ number and find out more about the role of the Civilian Assistant.
