Shooting is one of the disciplines that you may take part in in the ACF. All of the shooting that takes place does so within very strict safety rules and is confined to military ranges.

The weapons that are used by you will depend on your age, experience and training skills tests that you have to pass before using each weapon.

If you show an aptitude toward shooting you may well be able to shoot for the County team at the Cadet Skill at Arms meeting and collect a prize for your skill as shown in the photo on the left showing a Cheshire cadet receiving his medal from the Brigade Commander or indeed shoot for your County at Bisley, the ultimate goal of all good shots. Shooting is also one of the skills that count in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Below are the badges that are awarded for passing the shooting tests and are worn on your Brossard worn with your uniform, letting all your fellow cadets know of your shooting skills.

Remember that this is a recognised skill by the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award so you are managing to complete not only the requirements for your Star training but also a part of your DoE.
